In January, I succumbed to my memory ineptness and started writing things down. Twelve years ago, Dr. Dave said that it might behoove me to do so, but because it was suggested that I do , I didn't. And had I started writing things down when I was told to, I might have remembered half of the important things I should have remembered during the last 12 years.

So, I bought a cute girly journal small enough to not be a burden and started making a list of the things I wanted to do. And ta da! I did them. And whadayaknow, I did more things than I realized I had.

Here's a 2008 postview.

Became a grandma x8. Moved the last child out. Made chickens, dragons, aprons and porches. Started writing again, then stopped. Had an MRI. Spent a great day in Sea World with friends. Wrote eight Good Cents articles. Went camping. Applied, interviewed and was accepted for a service dog.

I published two cookbooks. Raised $2,000 for Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Ate tacos in Cabo. Started a non-profit organization. Spent too much at Nordstrom and Elaine's but not as much as I'll spend in 2009. Made better friends with my best friends. Said, "Thank you," more than the year before. Started iwheeltravel.net.

I got a new wheelchair. Hosted Thanksgiving for 30. Watched sunsets in Puerto Vallarta. Grieved for Diane, then celebrated with her. I donated and volunteered. Read Billy Collins' poetry book three times. Attended a wake in Connecticut for a friend. Partied at the Fireman's Ball in Jackson. And loved J.D. every minute of every day.

Oh I love your 2008! You amaze me. At risk of sounding both trite and cheesy, you are such a huge example to me. I just adore you, and congratulate you on your year. xoxo/km
