Fill er Up -- The Bucket

I had to cash in some of my karma credits today. Thank goodness I had some equity in my bucket or I'd be paying a pretty penny. Rewind to a couple weeks ago.

I went to call J.D. to tell him that I made it to California safely, but I couldn't find my phone. After thinking through every movement I'd done that day I deduced that I had either left it in my car at the airport garage, or I dropped it somewhere between my car and Laguna Beach. Kind of a big area to search.

One downside to losing your phone is an immense sense of isolation. True -- I hardly use my phone (and I was with most everyone that would ever call me on it), but just the fact that I didn't have it made me feel unconnected and vulnerable. I feel so much more secure just knowing that if I need to call anyone, any time, I can.

So I worried all week that I'd have to go through the hassle of getting a new one. I have insurance on it (this wasn't the first phone I've lost), so I wasn't worried about the $300 to replace it. I just felt kind of lost, AND who was looking through all my contacts, appointments and text messages. Creepy.

Kristin just happened to be returning to the airport after a trip so I used Kellene's phone to ask her if she'd drive by my car to see if it was there.

Yep! There it was.

"You are so lucky," she said. It was propped up between my side mirror and the windshield. I had dropped it on the ground and someone was honest enough to leave it for me. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

Fast forward... I lost it again today! I'm a loser.

When I got home, I realized I left it either on my desk at work or it had fallen out of my chair when I transferred into the car. So, Deacon and I went for a ride hoping to see it laying in the handicapped parking stall in front of my work.

Not there. And the more I thought about it, I knew I had it when I left the building. So I'd get to cash in that insurance policy.

When we got home, I thought I'd at least call to see if anyone answered it. Aaaah, a message on my home phone.

"Hi, I'm trying to find Kelly Bussio. I have her phone." THANK YOU, CRAIG! He's the really honest guy on the 5th floor. I hope you drink beer because you're getting a 6-pack in the morning.
